چکیده

Semiclassical approximations often involve the use of stationary phase approximations. This method can be applied when h is small in comparison to relevant actions or action diierences in the corresponding classical system. In many situations, however, action diierences can be arbitrarily small and then uniform approximations are more appropriate. In the present paper we examine diierent uniform approximations for describing the spectra of integrable systems and systems with mixed phase space. This is done on the example of two billiard systems, an elliptical billiard and a deformation of it, an oval billiard. We derive a trace formula for the ellipse which involves a uniform approximation for the Maslov phases near the separatrix, and a uniform approximation for tori of periodic orbits close to a bifurcation. We then examine how the trace formula is modiied when the ellipse is deformed into an oval. This involves uniform approximations for the break-up of tori and uniform approximations for bifurcations of periodic orbits. Relations between diierent uniform approximations are discussed. Semiclassical Transition from an Elliptical to an Oval Billiard

Semiclassical approximations often involve the use of stationary phase approximations. Numerical analysis of heat transfer enhancement and flow structure of alternating oval tubes by considering different alternate angles under turbulent flow

In this research, the convective heat transfers of turbulent water fluid flow in alternating oval tubes is studied using computational fluid dynamics. The purpose of the study is to analyze the heat transfer enhancement and secondary internal flows under different alternate angles. Also, comparing the effect of two schemesfor the domain discretization to be used in the soluti...

Angular Forces around Transition Metals in Biomolecules

Quantum-mechanical analysis based on an exact sum rule is used to extract an semiclassical angle-dependent energy function for transition metal ions in biomolecules. The angular dependence is simple but different from existing classical potentials. Comparison of predicted energies with a computergenerated database shows that the semiclassical energy function is remarkably accurate, and that its...

Semiclassical force for electroweak baryogenesis: Three-dimensional derivation

We derive a semiclassical transport equation for fermions propagating in the presence of a CP-violating planar bubble wall at a first order electroweak phase transition. Starting from the Kadanoff-Baym ~KB! equation for the two-point ~Wightman! function we perform an expansion in gradients, or equivalently in the Planck constant \ . We show that to first order in \ the KB equations have a spect...

Semiclassical Transition in φ 4 Theory ∗

We have shown an example of semiclassical transition in φ4 theory with positive coupling constant. This process can be described by the classical O(4)-invariant solution, considered on a contour in the complex time plane. The transition is technically analogous to the oneinstanton transition in the electroweak model. It is suppressed by the factor exp(−2S0) , where S0 is Lipatov instanton actio...
